Katerina Malat, Psy.D., C.Psych
Registered Clinical Psychologist
I enjoy working with clients to help them gain insight into their lives and make lasting positive changes. With my experience living internationally and working with clients from a variety of backgrounds, I bring an open perspective and pragmatic approach to my work.
I have experience treating a wide range of concerns, including anxiety, obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD), depression, fears and phobias, low self-esteem and stress. I also work to help clients with challenges related to their careers, relationships, family dynamics (current and past, including childhood emotional neglect) and life transitions.
From my experience in management and business, I also have an in-depth understanding of workplace dynamics and challenges. Combined with my expertise in workplace mental health, I can help clients navigate work and career-related struggles and guide them to engage in work they find rewarding.
My doctoral training was in Clinical Psychology from The Chicago School of Professional Psychology in Chicago, IL, USA, where I gained hands-on experience in various outpatient programs, including at clinics specializing in anxiety, mood, trauma, and eating disorders; community mental health centres; and academic settings.
Since 2016 I have been in private practice in Toronto, working with diverse clients and a variety of areas of concerns. I have also developed programming on parenting, employee engagement, and organizational effectiveness, and published research on transformational mentoring relationships.
My approach is tailored to each client. I take into consideration their unique experiences, needs, goals, and strengths. I integrate Cognitive-Behavioural Therapy (CBT), systems, psychodynamic, trauma-informed, and other practices into my work, to create the most effective plan of care.
I welcome questions and would be pleased to discuss how we could work together.
