Stefani Trovato, MPsy
Clinical Associate
I have completed a Master of Psychology Degree at Adler Graduate Professional School. I am currently fulfilling requirements toward becoming a Psychological Associate and registering with the College of Psychologists of Ontario.
My approach to therapy is client-centred and compassion-focused. My work is trauma-informed and anti-oppressive. My goal is to work collaboratively with you, to find out what works best to help you get to where you want to be in your life. Above all, I believe that an authentic therapeutic relationship is the most important factor for lasting therapeutic change. I always aim to ensure that you feel heard, understood, and valued.
I have experience working with a range of presenting concerns including anxiety, depression, perinatal mental health concerns, relationship issues, self-esteem, self-criticism, body-image concerns, body dysmorphia, gender dysphoria, gender identity issues, ADHD, OCD, and PTSD.
I have completed a certificate in Emotion-Focused Therapy (EFT) for individuals (Level 1) with the Centre for Psychology and Emotional Health and am pursuing additional training in EFT. Additional therapeutic modalities I pull from include Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), and Internal Family Systems (IFS).
I have an interest in working with individuals in the perinatal period, navigating fertility issues, pregnancy, and postpartum. I have completed training in perinatal mental health through the Canadian Perinatal Mental Health Training program. Training topics included: foundations of perinatal mental health; perinatal mental health assessment and support; navigating complex issues and relationships in the perinatal period; and the intersections of perinatal mental health.
I would be honoured to provide you with an inclusive, non-judgmental space where you can feel safe to explore your life and gain insight into who you are. I recognize the multiple oppressions that cause harm and pain for many individuals. My therapy style aims to help you move closer toward empowerment. I welcome people from all cultures, ethnicities, gender identities, sexual orientations, abilities/disabilities, and socioeconomic backgrounds. My practice is 2SLGBTQ+ affirming.
