Laura Barron, SSW, DSW
MSW Practicum Student
Hi, I’m Laura!
I am completing my Master of Social Work at Wilfrid Laurier University and my clinical practicum at Bloor West Therapy, supervised by Kayla Patchett, MSW, RSW.
First, I commend you for being here. Reaching out for support is remarkably brave, and I would be honoured to walk alongside you on your journey of healing, growth and self-discovery.
I am on a path to becoming a clinical social worker, with a deep passion for supporting adults through person-centred, compassionate and relational practices. My goal is to help you navigate and strengthen your connections to yourself and others and to feel more secure in the world around you.
I hold a Bachelor of Applied Science (BASc) and a Social Service Worker (SSW) diploma from the University of Guelph Humber, as well as a Developmental Service Worker (DSW) diploma from Humber College. I am also a member in good standing with the Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Service Workers.
I have been fortunate to work in community-based settings supporting individuals from diverse backgrounds and lived experiences, including individuals navigating Autism, ADHD, OCD, anxiety, depression, self-esteem concerns and relationship challenges. These experiences have shaped my belief that therapy must be flexible and responsive to each person’s unique context.
My approach is trauma-informed, inclusive, and affirming of all identities and experiences. I may flexibly draw upon Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT), systems theory, and adult attachment theory. Importantly, I will work with you to explore your needs, strengths, and goals, which will tailor my approaches to care. I also aspire to continuously educate myself on diverse therapeutic modalities to ensure that I can best support you.
I hope to create a safe, nonjudgmental space where you feel seen, heard and valued, and where your whole story is welcome. I envision our work together as an opportunity for genuine collaboration, moving at your pace and honouring your wisdom.
Above all, I believe therapy is about relationships, and I will prioritize building an authentic connection with you as the foundation for greater insight and meaningful change. I will show up with warmth, presence, and a gentle and curious attitude, ready to support you in processing difficult experiences and creating new pathways to move forward.
If this sounds like the kind of space you are looking for, feel free to reach out for a free 15-minute consultation. I would love to connect and see if we are the right fit.
